FRED RITSEMA
Mr. Ritsema has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 1997. He has been listed by 5280 magazine as one of "Denver's Top Lawyers." Mr. Ritsema was named "Outstanding Respondent Lawyer" by the Professionals in Workers' Compensation and was awarded the President’s Award for 2010 for “extraordinary contributions” to the workers’ compensation field. Law Week Colorado named him a "Best Lawyer." Mr. Ritsema has been a Colorado "Super Lawyer" from 2005 - 2011, and in 2007 was inducted into the College of Workers' Compensation Attorneys.
Mr. Ritsema has been practicing in the area of workers' compensation defense since 1976. Between 1976 and 1984 he also performed civil trial work and during that time tried more than twenty jury trials. His practice has been limited to workers' compensation since 1984. Together with seven other partners, Mr. Ritsema founded Ritsema & Lyon in December 1993. He has drafted legislation and testified numerous times at the legislature regarding pending workers' compensation legislation. Mr. Ritsema is President of Ritsema & Lyon, P.C. Active in the community, Mr. Ritsema is past president of the board of Denver Christian Schools and of the Foundation for Volunteers in Action.
