JOHN A. STENINGER
Mr. Steninger is a 1975 graduate of the University of Colorado, received his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1978, and has specialized in workers' compensation in Colorado from both a claimant and respondent perspective since that date. As a third-year law student, he served as a law clerk for United States District Court Judge Roy Harper, Eastern District of Missouri. Mr. Steninger handled workers' compensation claimants' cases as well as civil litigation at the law firm of George T. Ashen & Associates from 1978 to 1981, served as staff attorney for Western Slope cases at the State Compensation Insurance Fund (predecessor of Pinnacol Assurance), and was a partner at Glasman, Jaynes & Carpenter, P.C., representing private carriers and self-insured employers. From 1986 to 1995, he was a partner at Fogel, Keating & Wagner, P.C., representing claimants, followed by twelve years as co-founder and managing partner of Steninger & Balkenbush, L.L.C., where he represented claimants in workers' compensation and Social Security disability claims, plaintiffs in personal injury cases, and non-insured employers in workers' compensation defense.
Mr. Steninger is licensed to practice by the Colorado Supreme Court, U.S. District Court of Colorado, and U.S. Court of Appeals (10th Circuit). Mr. Steninger has served on the Board of Directors of the Workers' Compensation Education Association and is a member of the Denver Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association, where he was former President of the Workers' Compensation Section. Mr. Steninger joined Ritsema & Lyon, P.C., in January 2008, and practices in our Denver office.
